How do I get sponsors?
Ask people face to face to give you cash or a cheque.
It’s even easier to ask them by sending emails from your Fundraising Page online. Sign in and click Get Sponsors.
Remember that by asking someone to sponsor you, you are actually giving them an opportunity to support an extremely worthwhile cause. So cast your net wide; family and friends, colleagues, business contacts, mates at the pub/club, staff from other businesses in your building, suppliers, clients.
Can my business make a gift?
Absolutely! Many businesses will match monies raised by staff at events such as World’s Greatest Shave; it is great PR and boosts staff relations!
How can I take sponsorship by credit card?
There are 3 easy ways for people to sponsor you with a credit card.
Email your sponsors from your Fundraising Page. The email contains a link directly to your Profile Page making it easy for people to click “Sponsor Me” and complete their credit card sponsorship online. A tax deductible receipt and a thank you are sent by email directly to your sponsor.
OR
Ask your sponsors to visit www.worldsgreatestshave.com, click the Sponsor a Shaver button and search for you. Once they’ve found your Profile Page it’s easy to click “Sponsor Me” and complete their credit card sponsorship online. A tax deductible receipt and a thank you are sent by email directly to your sponsor.
OR
Fill in the credit card details on one of the white blank receipts in the back of your receipt book. Hand a copy of the receipt to the sponsor. We’ll debit the credit card when you return the book to the Leukaemia Foundation.
My sponsors are having trouble sponsoring me online.
We’re trying to make the process as easy and foolproof as possible. From time to time computer errors occur. Check any error message your sponsor received to see if there’s a reason why the credit card was declined (such as the wrong number or expiry date typed in).
Check the credit card statement to see if the transaction was charged to the card.

If people give me cash, how do I give people receipts?
When you register to participate in World’s Greatest Shave, we’ll send you a kit, including a receipt book. There are standard amounts like $5, $10 or $20 plus some blank receipts for other amounts which you can hand write.
If your sponsor wishes to sponsor you online a tax deductible receipt will be automatically emailed to them.
How do I give receipts for an unusual amount of money? (e.g. $51)
Write out one of the blank white receipts in the back of the receipt book.
Can I collect the money as I go, or do I wait until after the event?
We recommend that you collect as much as you can before you actually shave or colour. It can be difficult to collect after the event.
Can I knock on doors in my street to ask for donations?
No. Do not doorknock your neighbourhood to collect sponsorship or promote the World’s Greatest Shave. In many council areas around Australia, doorknocking is illegal without a special permit.
