I'm fundraising for the World's Greatest Shave
After walking the unknown and narrow blood cancer path with MDS and AML for 7 years, through clinical trials and experimental treatments, Dad went home to be with his Heavenly Father in March 2023.
When my gorgeous mother-in-law, Kerrie, bravely entered the brutal breast cancer treatment journey in 2024, I was struck by how comparatively well-trodden and clear this treatment path is.
My prayer for the families of those with MDS and AML, is that, in the future, there would be a clearer treatment path. The more that’s known, the less complicated decisions families have to make, and they can focus more on the precious time they have with each other.
I can never quite believe the things that God can link together. Kerrie, in her university studies, was involved in research into blood cancers, similar to what Dad had. It’s amazing to hear that what was once experimental, is now common treatment process.
So, my own reasons for participating in World’s Greatest Shave are linked to my heart for so so many friends, family and loved ones in my life who are currently fighting or have finished their fight with cancer.
The funds raised support the Leukaemia Foundation to give Australians facing blood cancer life-changing practical and emotional support. And to fund critical research.
