I'm fundraising for the World's Greatest Shave
Hi, my name is Sam and I am shaving off my luscious locks this year for a bloody great cause!!
Right now, in Australia, there are 140,000 families living with blood cancer. These families – children, parents, grandparents, friends – are facing the most difficult times of their lives. Personally, this cause means a lot to me. My grandmother passed away from a rare blood cancer called Myelodysplasia, and as strong as she was, cancer was stronger. I’ve also seen the emotional toll it takes on entire families – friends of mine who’ve had kids go through treatment, families juggling work, school, and caring for their little ones far from home.
The Leukemia Foundation is doing incredible work, not just funding crucial cancer research, but also providing emotional, financial, and practical support for these families. They help with things like medical costs, travel, accommodation – easing some of the stress so families can just focus on being there for each other. Their goal is zero lives lost to blood cancer by 2035, and I want to help make that a reality.
As part
of my fundraising, I’ll also be donating my hair to Sustainable Salons,
who make wigs for people who’ve lost their hair due to treatment or illness.
