Why take part

Blood cancer strikes young. It’s the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian children, having a big impact on students and schools across the country.

Blood cancer keeps children stuck in hospital, away from their families and friends. Away from their education. Away from their future.

Every year, hundreds of schools across Australia step up to take on the World's Greatest Shave. Some even make it an annual tradition.

By rallying a team of staff and students, you'll join a community of schools determined to shape a brighter future for blood cancer patients and their families. Students learn valuable life lessons on empathy, leadership, and community service.

Every dollar your school raises will help provide families with practical and emotional support to get them through the many challenges that blood cancer can bring. And you'll power Australia's brightest research minds, bringing us closer to our goal of zero lives lost to blood cancer by 2035.

Bring your students and staff together for the ultimate school team experience – and be part of an incredible campaign for change.

Where your fundraising goes

Big or small, every donation matters – and helps the Leukaemia Foundation support Australians living with blood cancer today, while investing in a better tomorrow.

Last year, the World's Greatest Shave community made this life-changing support possible:

37,655 nights of accommodation provided to 550 families.

40,081 interactions with expert Blood Cancer Support Coordinators.

A Leukaemia Foundation apartment in Brisbane meant the Dodd family was united during a touch time of blood cancer treatment.

2,405 patients and family members provided with transport services.

$276,603 in assistance grants provided to patients and families.

What's it like to take part?

“It is truly amazing to see the combined effort of students and teachers at MHS, building a stronger school community and most importantly raising awareness for the incredible efforts of the Leukaemia Foundation each and every year as a school tradition!”

Merewether High School

“And that’s a wrap! A huge thank you to everyone who donated to the WGS Cheltenham team. Because of all of your generous donations, we reached our goal of $30,000 for this year's World’s Greatest Shave! You should all be so proud of your bravery towards supporting the Leukemia Foundation.”

Cheltenham Girls' High School

"The World’s Greatest Shave will be a day to remember – it was epic! 21 people had their heads (and some their faces) shaved or trimmed, while others opted to have their hair styled in a rainbow of colors or intricately braided. The atmosphere was loud with an on-point MC cheering up the crowd. The sausages and drinks were delicious, and the shoot-out and cup pong were major hits. All the activities combined raised almost $300 today, bringing our all-up tally to just under $13,000!”
