You'll change the lives of Australians facing blood cancer

The Leukaemia Foundation supported Beth and her family during her diagnosis and treatment with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Beth had recently graduated from university and was looking forward to starting her teaching career when a blood cancer diagnosis changed everything.

"Just one day after a bone marrow biopsy, the doctor entered my room and told me that I had acute myeloid leukaemia,” recalls Beth.

The Leukaemia Foundation supported Beth and her family during this challenging time, providing home-away-from-home accommodation near the hospital.

Beth also had regular touchpoints with Alisha, her Leukaemia Foundation Blood Cancer Support Coordinator, to help navigate her blood cancer experience.

We would have been lost without the support of the Leukaemia Foundation. It was also nice to be surrounded by people who understood what you were going through and genuinely cared.

The Leukaemia Foundation helps families, like the Dodd's, stay together during blood cancer treatment with apartments near hospitals.

Parents Chris and Sarina Dodd didn't know what was going to happen to their family of four after Chris's blood cancer diagnosis. They needed to be together, but Chris's best chance of surviving blood cancer was treatment 11 hours away from home.

A Leukaemia Foundation apartment in Brisbane near the hospital meant the whole family was united during the toughest time of their lives.

I was absolutely blown away by the accommodation that we were given for absolutely nothing,” says Sarina.

Having my family there during that time is the reason I'm alive. I could not have done that time without them,” says Chris.

I owe my life to a community I didn’t really know existed before I got sick. Thank you to everyone; I will always be grateful.

The Leukaemia Foundation provided support to Urvi and her family when her father was diagnosed with blood cancer.

Urvi first connected with the Leukaemia Foundation when her father was diagnosed with blood cancer last year.

Our family is forever indebted to the Leukaemia Foundation for all the ways they’ve supported us through the very difficult journey we've been going through with Dad's illness. We’ve had to go to Royal Melbourne Hospital over 10 times for hundreds of days, both in the wards and ICU.

When emergency strikes, living next to the hospital in Leukaemia Foundation accommodation is a huge blessing. The Leukaemia Foundation has also provided a beautifully supportive community.
