Help me take a stand against blood cancer
Right now, over 150,000 Australians are facing the devastating impact of blood cancer, and 17 lose their life every single day.
My story - After spending months in and out of hospital with recurring pleural effusions and collapsed lung my specialist team started to realise it was something more than suspected pneumonia. After many biopsies and exploratory procedures a PET scan revealed I had Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin Lymphoma. One lymph node was removed during surgery while a larger mediastinal mass is untouchable as it sits over my main left lung airways and around the heart, causing a lot of pain! After a few weeks of lung draining and recovery the Haematologist, Cardiothoracic and Oncology teams set me up with a treatment plan to start immediately. 6 cycles expected (12 treatments) of ABVD Chemotherapy, with high expectancy of reducing if not completely clearing the large mass and any further growth in the lymphatic system. Fingers crossed.
That’s why I’m taking on the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave. By donating to my page, you’ll help me raise funds and awareness for blood cancer, and fuel life-changing research projects and support services for patients like me and their families.
Any amount – big or small – will make a real, tangible difference.
And if you dare, I ask you to pledge to shave, cut or dye your hair in support of my blood cancer journey and help promote awareness! Any pledges I will add to the bottom of this page. I’m already losing my hair and will likely be shaving it prior to the end of the month but it doesn’t have to stop there and any amount you can donate helps!
